Return to Moss Point

LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Activity: Exploring, Rock Scrambling

Date: October 21, 2019

We returned to Moss Point in beautiful Laguna Beach. When we were at Moss Point 6 months earlier it was a gloomy marine layer day, which we commonly refer to as “June Gloom”. This phenomenon takes place at the shore, and sometimes may only go a few miles inland until if finally burns off to bright and sunny all the way to the beach. Those cloudy days have their own appeal, but I much prefer the marine layer to melt away to the brilliant blue sky we all know and love, and even expect from California.

This day was of the dazzling perfection variety, and it was interesting to compare and contrast the two very distinct visits. The different shades in gray of the cloudy day- transforming into artistic strokes of blues and greens that the Pacific exposed on this day, along with the explosions of white foam upon the dark colored rock found one mesmerized with each incoming wave.

You first make your way down the staircase at the end of Moss Street to an enchantingly, seclusive, micro beach. A life guard stand, small sandy beach, rocky cliffs, Moss Point, and a scent of ocean air will bring a delight to your face in the form of a smile.

This is good spot for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling as well as scuba diving.

We made our way around to the south for more views of Moss Point. There is a delightful little archway through the rock, tide pools, and a horizontal blow howl that breaths out a rainbow of color in it’s spray as just the right wave is trapped in the small hallowed cavern.

It is a grand spot for self reflection, meditation, day dreaming and relaxation.

The ocean is everything I want to be. Beautiful, mysterious, wild, and free.

Thanks for joining me here at OC Beaches for a day at the sea where I find myself, as always ‘Pursuing Balance Through Adventure’. And what better place for such an undertaking.
